Lisboa E-Nova

lisboa-e_nova-logoLisboa e-Nova is Lisbon’s Municipal Energy-Environment Agency, a non-profit organization operating under private law, constituted by a pool of Associates that invest in Lisboa E-Nova’s activities.

Lisboa E-Nova’s role is to contribute to the sustainable development of the city of Lisbon through mainstreaming good practices in urban planning, construction and imfra-structures, urban management and mobility, involving all the city’s key actors, among political decision makers, major urban stakeholders and the citizens of Lisbon. The Agency is responsible for the development and monitoring of Lisbon’s Energy-Environment Strategy, a document that sets energy efficiency targets, among other, for the period from 2009 to 2013. Within this context Lisboa E-Nova coordinates several projects aimed at reducing the city’s energy consumption in the built environment, being also responsible for assuring Lisbon’s compliance with the Covenant of Mayors.

In the Lisbon SAVE ENERGY pilot, several activities were organized aiming at motivating users engagement in adopting more energy efficient behaviors. The most successful were didactic workshop on energy and energy efficiency issues, the installation of applets in all the pcs with daily tips on energy efficiency and the availability of smart plugs for users to test domestic appliances, linking the project being developed at the office with the residential environment.

The future of the Lisbon SAVE ENERGY pilot is to widen the extent of the pilot from a single block to the whole building! In September the real time data monitoring system will be measuring the electrical consumption of the whole building and this information will soon be available to all the users and visitor of the building with the real time display in the main lobby of the building!
Meanwhile other municipal buildings will also engage in such a project and have their electrical consumptions monitored and presented to the technicians and visitors. This is the case of the Buildings and Electrical Installations Management Department from the Lisbon Municipality. This is a unique opportunity not only to engage users from another municipal building, but the technicians that are actually responsible for managing other buildings and systems in the Lisbon Municipality and so are in an exceptional position to extend the learning from this project to other buildings.
