City of Lulea, Technical Administration (LKTF)

The Technical Administration of City of Lulea is the project owner of Lulea pilot, The city culture house.

The Technical Administration consists of the following departments/units:
Street and traffic – Park and nature – Water and wastewater – Waste – Real estate – Project development – Technical service – Finance administration – Staff and information – Operations support; in all more than 400 employees.

The activities within the organisation include responsibility for and coordination of the overall municipal building needs, maintenance and management of roads and streets, water and sewage supply, waste management and maintenance and management of green spaces, parks and woodland.

Technical Administration yearly turnover is approximately SEK 1 billion divided into:

Real Estate

  • The total building area 2009 amounted to 628.000m ² of own and 68 000m² of rented premises.
  • Streets, railway, quay
  • 400 km streets and roads and 200 km individual roads
  • 120 km of pedestrian and cycle paths
  • Street lighting, about 18 000 points
  • 103 pc bridges and tunnels
  • Traffic signals at 30 different locations
  • 96 ticket vending machines for parking
  • 14 km railway track
  • 874 m quays

Water and sewage

  • Three drinking water reservoirs
  • 10 waterworks
  • 650 km drinking water pipes
  • 11 sewage treatment plants
  • 590 km wastewater pipelines
  • 310 km stormwater pipes
  • 112 pumping stations

Waste

  • A manned landfill/sorting/large storage centre
  • Four manned waste recycling centres

Parks, forests, playgrounds, etc.

  • 380 hectares of parks and green spaces
  • 450 park benches
  • 750 hectare of nature land
  • 6000 hectares of forests
  • 2 hectares of nursery
  • 40 football and ice hockey grounds
  • 62 playgrounds
